Vodun Viō or Spirit Child is the predecessor to Daavi- Artisticaly Reimagining the Anlo-Ewe Ethnic Group. This garment is a pilot which explored the different elements of research for the collection “Daavi”. This piece explores the beadwork to be seen in the collection, the asymmetry which is an interpretation of non-conformity in Vodun spirituality as well as the bold clean lines which represent the strength exhibited by the Dahomey Mino Warriors. Vodun Viō combined elements of my research on what it means to be an Anlo-Ewe woman.
